Em-On's Thai Cafe

We had found one of our new favorite noms in town.

Confession: we REALLY love Thai curries. After a just a few bites of Em-On's Thai’s duck curry, you should have seen our faces of delight as we had found one of our new favorite noms in town. They have been preparing these fragrant, boldly flavored dishes in Naples since 1996.

The menu is extensive and lets you go safe with traditional dishes like pad thai, or go adventurous with plates like their funkier papaya salad. You can customize the spice level of anything you order, from 1 (least spicy) to 5 (Thailand hot). We kept our choices between 1 and 2, and would recommend you start there (Thai heat doesn’t mess around).

Here’s what we had on the first of many more visits to come:

🦆 Duck Curry (Gang Ped Yang): crispy skin duck served sliced on homemade red curry sauce with tomato, pineapple and bell peppers

🍤 Shrimp and Glass Noodle Hot Pot: shrimp, glass noodles, fresh ginger, and cilantro with a Thai sauce packed into a Thai style hot pot

🌴 Papaya Salad Jungle Style: fresh green papaya, garlic, thai egg plant, bamboo, bean sprouts, tomato, anchovy sauce, tamarind juice, fish sauce and bits of salty crab served with a side of pork rinds

🐖 Laab: ground pork mixed with onion, scallion, cilantro and Chef’s sauce
